Emma has been a regular at the Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage for the last five years – her contributions have included the famous red and blue lobsters (the blue version was bought by the North York Moors National Park authority, and now stands at the top of the hill in Staithes), a family of elephants which proved popular with the national press and a glorious larger- than-life polar bear.
Made from stripped and woven white willow around a central steel armature, the bear was installed overlooking Staithes Harbour just before last September’s festival and was there until recently, testament to just how weather-resistant and hardy her sculptures are..
Emma’s contribution to the 2019 festival was a coastal bird trail around the village. And for more information on the festival, which in 2020 takes place on 12 and 13 September, take a look here: www.staithesfestival.com
